After years of hopes for a Kinks Reunion, Ray Davies discusses a real possibility. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Ray Davies said he and his brother met in person to discuss a Kinks reunion.
Ray Davies told The Sunday Times, “I met Dave only last week to talk about getting back together again,” he said. “We’ve also spoken a few times on the phone and emailed. He’s been composing his own songs, but I’d really like to write with him again. We both agree we don’t want to do old stuff or tour with past hits. It’s got to be something new.”
This news truly comes as a shock given the volatile relationship between Ray Davies and Dave Davies. Previous to this, the two would only communicate via email and refused to communicate in any other form. Dave Davies was sure to clarify on his Facebook page that the brothers had not agreed on anything as of yet.
The Kinks formed in 1963 with members Dave Davies, Ray Davies, Pete Quaife, and Mick Avory. The Kinks originated in London, England and was known for their unique influence to rock music. Throughout their career, they released 24 studio albums and were a highly successful group.
Despite this, for some reason the Davies brothers just cannot get along. In an interview, Dave Davies stated that he loves his brother but, “”I just can’t stand to be with him. About an hour with Ray’s my limit, so it would be a very short reunion.”
