Rascal Flatts is an American country music group that formed in Columbus, Ohio in 1999. The musical group consists of Gary LeVox (bass and guitar), Jay DeMarcus (keyboardist and backup vocals), and Joe Don Rooney (electric guitar and backup vocals). Rascal Flatts is the most awarded Country group of the past decade. They have earned over 40 awards from the ACAs, ACMs, AMAs, CMAs, People’s Choice Awards and many more.
From 2000-2012, they recorded for Disney Music Group’s Lyric Street Records. They released seven albums while signed to that label, all of which were certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America. After Lyric Street Records closed in 2012, Rascal Flatts moved to Big Machine Records and released Nothing Like This in 2012. They also released their second album, Changed, that same year on Big Machine. Their latest album, Rewind, was released in May of this year.
Since their debut in 2000, Rascal Flatts has sold over 22.5 million albums and over 28 million digital downloads. Rascal Flatts has released 14 number one singles. Their longest-lasting number one single is their cover of Marcus Hummon’s “Bless the Broken Road,” which remained at number one for five weeks. Their hit single “What Hurts The Most” made number one on both the country and adult contemporary charts, and peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100.
