Welsh singer and creative mind Gruff Rhys toured the United States back in 2012 in search of the legacy and history of a distant relative who came in 1790. American Interior is a multimedia project which, by the means of written words, songs, an app and film, tells the story of Rhys’ journey following the path of John Evans across the country. An exceptional multimedia project which will surely be one of the most inventive releases of the year.
Earlier this month, American Interior was released in the UK but it won’t be physically available on the US until fall. Via Turnstile, Rhys has announced November 4th as the chosen date to release the album on american ground. Around that time, the performer will do a series of american shows including Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Portland. The shows will include visuals of his recently released documentary on John Evans – a 22-year old welsh laborer, who came to the U.S. in search of a tribe of Welsh-speaking First Nation Americans – which debuted at this year’s South By Southwest Film Festival.
