LISTEN: Jurassic 5 Releases New Track “The Way We Do It,” Band’s First Song in 8 Years

Back like they never left, Jurassic 5 has dropped their first single and video since the 2006 LP Feedback. “The Way We Do It,” produced by the late great Heavy D, features a sample of The White Stripes 2006 Grammy nominated “My Doorbell”, off the album Get Behind Me Satan, and in classic J5 fashion, with it’s a raw kick drum bangin’, and rhyme slayin’, is an instant hip hop anthem.

Driven by the call and response chorus, “That’s just the way we do it,” these Los Angeles, California emcees let you know, “J5 in the house tonight.” The band which was formed in 1993, may have broken up a year after releasing their last album, but when you hear the deep, rich, baritone of Chali 2na spit lyrics like, “We got a gross fetish, for beats and dope lyrics,” no one would be the wiser.

Jurassic 5 re-formed in 2013, including the return of Cut Chemist, for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, were added to the Glastonbury Festival line up in April of this year and are about to begin a reunion tour.
