Folk songstress Sharon Van Etten has just released her newest track, “Your Love is Killing Me”, the third teaser in a line of single releases this spring leading to her upcoming album drop in May on Jagjaguwar.
The Brooklyn singer-songwriter has been all over this past months, as the release of her fourth album Are We There draws closer. She dropped her first single, the dark reverb-soaked “Taking Chances”, with an accompanying video early April, followed by the more upbeat “Everytime the Sun Comes Up”, also followed by video.
This third single showcases her sense of grandeur mixing with a dark side of folk, featuring a organ-synth and deliberate, echoing percussion. Her vocals come in wavering, rising to a crescendo as her guitar comes in for the bridge and spills into a fabulous chorus. The track is a wonderful example of her versatility and musicianship, and definitely worth a listen or five. Check it out below, and make sure to catch her on any remaining dates of her summer tour!
