New music ahead from Sia, the Australian singer/songwriter behind one of Flo Rida’s best hooks and the song that’s on every “calm down” playlist you’ve ever heard. After years of writing smash hits for artists like Rihanna and Shakira (“Diamonds,” “She Wolf,” anyone?), Sia is now receiving widespread recognition for her own original music. Her sixth LP will be titled 1000 FORMS OF FEAR and is slated for release on July 8th.
1000 FORMS OF FEAR already includes a soon-to-be hit single. “Chandelier,” a soaring pop song featuring Sia’s stunningly emotive vocals, is climbing the charts in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, and broke the iTunes Top 40 just this week. Another track, “Elastic Heart,” features Diplo and The Weeknd, and was recorded for the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack. At last, Sia seems truly poised to join the ranks of the world’s biggest pop stars (many of whom happen to be her former employers).
