The Julie Ruin Cancels Summer Tour Dates After Kathleen Hanna Has Lyme Disease Relapse

If you were looking forward to The Julie Ruin’s summer tour dates, we have some sad news. Word has just been released by the band that all summer dates have been cancelled in light of singer Kathleen Hanna’s recent Lyme disease relapse.

According to a recent article, the band will be foregoing all shows and public appearances until the summer’s end.

Hey All, we are ridiculously sad to announce that all shows/appearances are cancelled until September 2014. Kathleen has been outspoken about her struggle with Lyme Disease and she is currently having a health crisis and has been advised by her doctor to start a difficult 3-month course of treatment immediately. The treatment plan will make it impossible for her to travel. We are disappointed to postpone these appearances, however we are confident that taking this time off will allow Kathleen to heal so that we can continue touring in the future. Thank you so much for your support and we are so sorry we can’t come out and see you right now.

Hanna formed the band back in 2010, with help from Kathi Wilcox, her former bandmate in Bikini Kill, as well as Carmine Covelli, Sara Landeau, and Kiki and Herb’s Kenny Mellman. Since then they’ve done their share of touring and also released one album and two music videos. The band had a great summer tour lined up, mostly in European venues but including several US dates, until all plans were cut short by Hanna’s illness. Fans around the world look forward to her speedy recovery, and so do we.
