Using only one take, Neil Young and Jack White will be recording their set on this evening’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, then pressing it to vinyl as the show rolls on.
Hyping his automatic vinyl pressing abilities for much of this year, White released the “World’s Fastest Released Record” last month, on Record Store Day. Featuring the title track off White’s second solo album, due out June 10, the 7″ also includes his remake of Elvis Presley’s “Power of My Love.”
Young also recently recorded a covers album at White’s Third Man Records using the label’s Record Booth, a machine that records a small amount of audio, then spits out a 6″ phonograph disc. The LP, A Letter Home, features two duets with White.
Tonight’s experiment appears to be setting another record, as announced by Jimmy Fallon – catch it on NBC at 11:30pm.
