Hardcore punk standout Bl’ast has just announced dates for a Summer campaign. An ambitious touring schedule has the band continent-crossing, country-hopping, and joining some truly massive festivals along the way.
The biggest Bl’ast news comes in the form of a couple of recent additions. A band in search of new members can’t really beat scooping up two ex-members of the Queens of the Stone Age. QOTSA and Kyuss alum Nick Oliveri has been brought on as bassist, as well as former QOTSA drummer Joey Castillo. Original members Clifford Dinsmore and Mike Neider have reported positive chemistry – probably a good thing, as they’ll shortly be spending over a month together.
Bl’ast’s heyday was in the late 80’s, the golden years of West Coast punk. The last we’ve heard from them was BLOOD!, a Dave Grohl-led remaster of previous work. Rumors of new material continue to stew, and we can’t help but take the upcoming tour as a positive sign.
