WATCH: Lana Del Rey Releases New Video for “West Coast”

If you needed a reminder that summer is almost here, this is it. Lana Del Ray has released the video for her hit single “West Coast,” a visual that features a group of people looking like they’re having fun at the beach while still being completely Lana Del Rey in its tone and style.

Shot almost entirely in black and white, and using lots of slow motion and close-up filming, “West Coast” alternates between scenes of a group of people smiling and running around a sunset beach, and shots of Lana riding in a car, taking drags off a cigarette and resting her head on a guy’s shoulder. Then out of nowhere, the end of the video brings in vivid color, featuring images of her standing in burning flames. It’s a dark and melancholy spin on artistically shot visuals, but it fits perfectly with the feel of the song.

“West Coast” is a track off of Del Rey’s upcoming album Ultraviolence, which doesn’t have release date quite yet. It will be her latest album since 2012’s Born to Die and comes just after Del Rey rocked the stage at Coachella and kicked off a string of spring tour dates.

Del Rey is known for her dramatic, stylized videos and “West Coast” is no exception. Check it out below.
