Matrimony is an alternative band that started out as a husband-wife duo in 2012. Jimmy Brown and Ashlee Hardee Brown later accepted Ashelee’s brothers Jordan and CJ into the band. Their most recent recordings drew the attention of Columbia Records, which led the four-song Montibello Drive EP into a full-length release.  The full-length album Montibello Memories was named after the Hardee family home where the band lived and developed its music. Montibello Memories is a collection of melodic pop and alternative folk that reflects their time at home.

Matrimony’s music deals with waves of contemporary pop as demonstrated in their song “Golden City.” The male-female vocals of the Browns play off each other effortlessly while they trade lines in the first verse before joining in harmony on their single “Obey Your Guns.” The single “Giant” displays the power of female lead vocalist Ashlee. Their sound can be compared to the Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, and Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros.

Matrimony has opened for Gaslight Anthem and has showed profound enhancements in their ability to perform in small clubs and on larger stages in front of 2,000 people. Although they rely heavily on acoustic instruments like the banjo and mandolin, they still know how to rock.
