Wawa Welcome America’s 4th of July Jam 7/4

Wawa Welcome America’s 4th of July Jam is back again and this year it’s better than ever. Billed as “the largest free concert in America,” the event goes down over the 4th of July weekend on the Ben Franklin Parkway with the Art Museum as the backdrop.

The Wawa Welcome America festival is a week long series of events. This year, everything kicks off with a new event, the Liberty Block Party, on 6/28. The day long event will feature live music and delicious food, but at this point we still know very little about what will happen aside form its location (The Shops at Liberty Place).  Among other free events open to Philadelphians are a parade, and of course, the always popular Wawa Hoagie Day.

But the big event is certainly the 4th of July Jam. As usual, The Roots will be here fulfilling their role as the house band. In perhaps their most impressive lineup yet, this year’s event features Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheeran, Aloe Blacc, Jennifer Hudson, and Ariana Grande. The event will also feature Vicci Martinez, Season 1 finalist from The Voice. Questlove’s Instagram seems to hint at some possible surprise guests. Two years ago, the Philly legends brought out Lauryn Hill.

As usual, the 4th of July jam will be free. But tickets will be available for reserved seated area. You can follow Wawa Welcome America on Twitter for opportunities to win prime seating for the show. The 4th of July weekend is quickly shaping up to be star-studded event. In addition to all of the talented performers headed to our area for the 4th of July Jam, Mr. and Mrs. Carter will also be in the neighborhood on July 5th for their co-headlining tour.
