Beach House assembled an all-star band to perform “No Other”. The band includes Beach House’s Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally, Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold, Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen, the Walkmen’s Hamilton Leithauser, Iain Mattews of Plainsong/Fairport Convention, Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner, plus members of Lower Den, Cass McComb’s band, Celebration, and Mt. Royal.
The group assembled and embarked on a short tour in order to celebrate The Byrds co-founder Gene Clark. The tour occurred in late January. Pitchfork has shared the full concert recording from January 25th finale show at New York’s Music Hall of Williamsburg.
According to Consequences of Sound the collaborative project, “ [takes] on a vibe resembling that of an epic jam band, the set captures a certain kind of rarity and a rather spontaneous element, as if you can literally trace how the various elements attempt to blend and meld together.Musically, the outfit maintains the album’s core spirit, leading to moments ranging from sweeping psych-folk to the more quaint and quiet ballads”.
Despite the presence of the indie powerhouse of bands, this did not deter from the focus of the performance. Each performance featured a screening of a new documentary on Clark and “No Other”, entitled The Byrd Who Flew Alone. The Documentary for the trailer can be viewed below.
