The 1975 is an English alternative/indie rock band. The group consists of Matthew Healy (vocals, guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), George Daniel (drums) and Ross MacDonald (bass). Together they have released four EPs: Facedown (2012), Sex (2012), Music for Cars (2013) and IV (2013). Their debut self-titled album was also released in 2013 via Dirty Hit and Polydor Records. Their debut album reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart less than a week after it came out.
Paste magazine has described their sound as ““equal parts ethereal and synth pop,” with “haunting” and “smooth” vocals. Their “mellow,” stripped down style was praised for its lack of “attention-grabbing production theatrics.” Lyrically, The 1975 uses themes in the more specific context of sex, love, drugs, hope, death and fear. Their most popular singles are “Chocolate,” “Girls,” and “Sex.” Each of the singles has reached well over 1 million views on The 1975’s Youtube Channel.
