Portishead frontman and lyricist Beth Gibbons teams up with the stoner metal trio Gonga to cover “Black Sabbath”, the self titled track of the legendary metal band.
While everyone’s waiting for Portishead to make some time to deliver new a record, their lead singer and lyricist Beth Gibbons has been working on her solo EP while making collaborations all over the place, ALL OVER THE PLACE. She has teamed up to track one of the most iconic heavy rock tracks ever “Black Sabbath” with fellow englishmen Gonga.
The band – signed to Portishead Geoff Barrow’s Invada label – has done a remake of the song and renamed it “Black Sabbeth” (yes, we all got the pun) and, weird enough, Gibbons’ vocals sound extremely fitting for the genre. Check out the official video below.
