Puss n Boots’ album is set to release on July 15 by Blue Notes Records. The trio has been playing together since 2008, however this is the band’s first studio album.
According to a press release, the album No Fools, No Fun includes five original songs – two each from Dobson and Popper and one from Jones – and seven spirited cover tunes, all culled from Puss n Boots’ live repertoire. “
Puss n Boots is made up of Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson, and Catherine Popper. Norah Jones, vocalist, electric guitarist, and fiddle, has produced a number of solo albums. In 2003 Come Away With Me won Jones Grammys and became the number 10 best-selling album of the Soundscan era. Sasha Dobson who does vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, and drums for the band comes for a music background. Her entire family was involved in the music business when she was younger. Dobson has had her own success including her well received 2013 album, Aquarius and her opening act on the Willie Nelson tour. The final member, Catherine Popper takes care of vocals, bass, and acoustic guitar for the band. Popper will appear on Jack White’s 2014 release Lazaretto.
The album will be available for pre-order on June 17. More information on Puss n Boots can be found here.
