Ready to pop open a musical time capsule? Omnivore Recordings is gearing up to push some previously unreleased tracks from country legend Hank Williams.
Williams had one of those rare, unlucky careers that was as short as it was brilliant. His musical prime lasted for around five years before he died suddenly at the age of 29. But he made those years count; Williams racked up hit after hit, and is still considered one of the most influential country musicians and bluesmen to walk the earth.
So it’s sort of a big deal when a load of his sets from 1950 are dug up and primed for release. 24 performances have been compiled, and are packaged as the Garden Spot Programs, 1950. CD, digital, and LP formats will all be made available. A little incentive to grab the CD: it comes bundled with rare photos and liner notes from Colin Escott, the set co-producer.
