Queens of the Stone Age @ The Mann Center 7/20

Queens of the Stone Age are headed to the Skyline Stage at The Mann this Summer! Join them on July 20th at one of the best summer concert venues in Philly.

The band is touring is support of their newest release …Like Clockwork. The album was released in 2013 via Matador Records and debuted at number 1 in the US, making it the first QOTSA album to achieve that ranking. They plan to begin recording their next album immediately after their tour, with “more than enough songs” already in the works.

Queens of the Stone Age were last here for Labor Day Weekend performing as part of the Made in America Festival. Unfortunately, band founder Josh Homme did not have great things to say about the festival’s organizer, Jay Z. During a radio interview with CBC Radio 2, Homme described his experiences, stating that he had been frisked by the event’s security team before his performance. He also described a “gift” he had received from Jay Z, which Homme felt was more of a marketing stunt than an actual gift. Despite the setback, QOTSA, one of the event’s most anticipated acts, managed to put on a stellar performance exceeding all expectations.

They band has been hard at work supporting their latest album. Just this past weekend they hit up Coachella, in what has been described by  many as the perfect location for the desert rockers. The band was created and formed in Palm Desert, and thus felt right at home at Coachella, actually performing in the middle of a sandstorm at one point. Their set was ranked as one of the 5 best that day, according to SPIN. Coupled with their performance at MIA, I think it’s safe to say that their Mann Center performance is one you will not want to miss.
