Major news from Trampled by Turtles. The acclaimed indie outfit is setting up to release a new album this July. Wild Animals will be their seventh album, following 2012’s Stars and Satellites. They’ve also been kind enough to stream a single and a short vignette. Details and link below.
Stars and Satellites marked a watershed year for the band. The album blew up the Billboard charts, holding down top spot on the bluegrass list, and taking additional spots in indie, alt, and folk categories. TV appearances and headliner billing followed – they’ve been busy ever since. Somehow, they’ve also found time to set up the first annual Festival Palomino, which features a coterie of handpicked performers.
Wild Animals is meant to be a slightly different album from the band’s previous breakneck offerings. First single “Are You Behind the Shining Star” builds on the previous success of “Alone” from Stars and Satellites. Frontman Dave Simonett had this to say:
“A lot of our reputation from even just a couple years ago was that we were this fast band, which we can do, and we do that…But this record focused a little bit more on other aspects of our playing together.”
