Ever heard Brody Dalle really cut loose vocally? If the answer’s no, then do yourself a favor and check out “Blood in Gutters”. It’s the third song we’ve heard from Dalle’s upcoming debut solo album, and it kicks every ass the previous two missed.
Australian born, Dalle arrived just in time to grow up listening to golden-age grunge and punk music. Nirvana, Hole, Black Flag…turns out that can influence a young musician. Her first band was the successful but short-lived punk outfit The Distillers. Her next project, Spinerette, added musician/producer Alain Johannes and RHCP founding member Jack Irons to a severely reduced Distillers lineup.
Her debut solo album, Diploid Love, is set to release later this month. “Parties for Prostitutes” and “Meet the Foetus/Oh the Joy” have already dropped, making “Blood in Gutters” the third track we’ve heard. It’s predictably a doozy. Dalle is well-known and well-respected for her unusual vocal range, but it’s not something you can ever get tired of hearing. Check the song out below.
