Philly’s own Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have announced a US tour that arrives in Philadelphia this summer. The tour will bring the hometown heroes to Johnny Brenda’s on June 27th.
The group will be releasing their newest album, Only Run, on June 3rd. You can currently pre-order the album and you’ll receive an instant download of the song “Coming Down.” The single features vocals from The National’s Matt Berninger. You can check out the new track here. Only Run is Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s 4th album. With Alec Ounsworth serving as the sole creative force behind the album, he says it has him exploring a “renewed sense of optimism.” He says, “The entire concept of the band, the name itself – is about balancing optimism in the face of overwhelming odds.”
The band’s first album was self-released in 2005. The self-titled album, and it’s presence on various music blogs, helped to build a steady amount of buzz for the band. The album’s song “The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth” was featured on an episode of The Office as well as in the film The Art of Getting By.
Support for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah comes in the form of Stagnant Pools, two brothers from Bloomington, Indiana. The duo released their debut album, Temporary Room, in 2012. Following the release of that album, brothers Douglass and Bryan Enas embarked on a series of tours, where they experienced “a world outside their Indiana-based upbringing.” Using the lessons they learned while touring, the duo wrote and recorded their sophomore release, Geist, this January. The album will be released on June 10th and features the lead single “Intentions,” which you can stream here.
