Back by popular demand, after a 7 year hiatus, the pimp and the poet, André 3000 and Big Boi, better known as Outkast hit the Coachella Stage, and gave their fans a legendary performance. Reuniting to start their 20th Anniversary tour by playing 40 music festivals worldwide, the duo from the ATL, started in Coachella, giving them 27 chart toppers and fan favorites.
Kicking off their set at 11:30pm with “B.O.B.”, “Gasoline Dreams”, “ATLiens”, and “Rosa Parks”, the duo kept it blazing according to Consequence of Sound, with the much loved “Skew It on the Bar-B”, and “SpottieOttieDopaliscious”. They then broke it up, taking turns with their individual songs off Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, followed Big Boi’s “Shutterbugg” off of his solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot…The Son of Chico Dusty. The guys even took a chance during “Vibrant”, to give a shot out to Prince, who was watching off-stage.
Accompanied by fellow Dungeon Family members Future and Sleepy Brown on songs like, “Bowtie”, “So Fresh, So Clean”, “The Way You Move”, including the premiere of the André 3000-assisted “Benz Friends (Whatchutola)”. R&B singer Janelle Monae joined for a rendition of “Tightrope”, then closed it with “Hey Ya!” After adding Killer Mike to squeeze in “The Whole World”, Coachella decided their time was up, and shut down their set.
André 3000 apologized to the crowd telling them, “We’ll see you next weekend”, where they will be headlining the Friday night show again.
