Hip hop and visual artist Aesop Rock has come out with a new track to challenge our notions of suitable rhythm duration. In a prepared statement, Aesop describes his 32-minute The Blob as a “continuous mix of beats & sounds that have otherwise been orphaned by their hell-bound father. It is largely unmixed and occasionally offensive.”

The Manhattan born, San Francisco based Aesop was on the leading edge of the late 90’s alternative movement in Hip Hop. Last year, he went on tour with Kimya Dawson to support his Hokey Fright release, which ultimately brought him to Coachella.
The Blob marks Aesop’s return to solo in signature avant-garde style. Going on in winding loops of displaced harmony, the track plays as more of a collection of similarly themed entries than a single coherent melody. Aesop combines the change of pace with numerous shifts in accompaniment and sampling. The massive track features James Lynch on bass and Allyson Baker on guitar. The finished product was mastered by Joey Raia. Now lets see if he dares to attempt a live performance.
