Mad Decent Block Party @ Festival Pier 8/8

The lineup is finally here! And this year’s Mad Decent Block Party is guaranteed to be another crazy event. This year they’ve expanded to even more cities and will kick off the madness in Florida at the end of July. The lineup for the entire block party series is pretty impressive, with the organizers even scoring an appearance by Outkast at the Denver show. The Philly show is on August 8th, at the always lovely Festival Pier.

This year’s Philly version of the Mad Decent Block Party boasts a pretty impressive lineup. The hiphop/EDM heavy event will feature Diplo, Chance the Rapper, Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus, DJ Snake, Dirty South Joe, Swizzymack, and DJ Sega. Many of these names were also on last year’s lineup; Diplo (as Major Lazer), Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus, DJ Sega, Dirty South Joe, and Swizzymack all made appearances at the 2013 Block Party. This year the buzz is certainly surrounding Chance the Rapper.

Tickets officially go on sale tomorrow (4/11), and with the pre-sale tickets selling out quickly, you’ll definitely want to purchase your tickets ASAP. Yes, this is your yearly reminder that the Block Party now charges people for attendance. We all remember back in 2008 when the Block Parties began right here in Philadelphia. Back then, the event was an actual block party. And admission was free. But since the event has not only expanded in the number of cities they visit, they’ve also been able to book bigger artists and secure larger venues, which is in huge part thanks to fans willing to chip in the money for the show. The organizers said, “It’s almost like Mad Decent grew, the Block Parties grew, Diplo’s career grew, they all grew together.” We’re excited to see what Diplo and the rest of the Mad Decent crew have in store for us this year and the years to come.

Remember – tickets go on sale Friday, April 11th at noon!
