Danny Brown is a new unstoppable rap entity, his unique style and lyrics make him one of the hottest hip-hop acts now days and new visuals for his latest single have been released, yep, the clip is as well crafted as his songs.
With a sold-out American tour and performances on Glastonbury Festival and Ottawa Bluesfest on his way, Brown has taken music industry by the hand and opened a path for himself. His latest single “25 Bucks” features Megan James – singer of the Canadian electro-pop duo Purity Ring and comes as a first glimpse of his critically acclaimed album Old which also has collaborations of big hip-hop names as A$AP Rocky, Freddie Gibbs and Schoolboy Q among others.
The song talks about the rapper’s childhood and is portrayed beautifully (almost literally) by Norton – “25 Bucks” director – the stop images of scenes narrated by the song’s lyrics (the porch, “momma” braiding your hair, “she’ll do it on the stairs”) contrast with the flowing of Brown’s movements and lyricism; Megan James gives a ghostly voice that almost makes you think of her as the voice of his mind; it is a perfect pair, the song production, filled with 909’s drums and pitched vocals resemble – although in a much subtle way – what James has being doing all along with her very unique band. The song was recently performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and shows no signs of going down.
Watch below the making-of this amazing production followed by the actual video. Enjoy!
