Say Anything is an American rock band that formed in 2000. Within two years, they self-released two EPs, Junior Varsity and In Your Dreams. They also produced their full-length debut album Baseball: An Album by Sayanything. In 2003, Say Anything signed with Doghouse Records, and within the next year had released …Is a Real Boy.
Say Anything gained their fame with …Is a Real Boy. The band’s website quotes, “their (oddly) popular record …Is a Real Boy somehow broke the “pretty boy punk” mold by establishing a career that thrived somewhere between music your pretentious college student of an older brother would like and the loud crap that your little brother uses to annoy him with.” The record was followed up with their next album, In Defense of the Genre, which is an equally energetic and power-packed album. In 2012, Say Anything released their fourth studio album, Anarchy, My Dear, with Equal Vision Records. Their most recent album, Hebrews, is scheduled to be released in June of this year with Equal Vision Records.
As a group, Say Anything’s records have sold almost half a million copies, with even more copies of their albums being illegally downloaded. Say Anything’s website quotes, “Those listeners did however, care enough to go see Say Anything play, which allowed for them to contribute to a reliably chaotic, cathartic live experience.” Say Anything has toured with bands including Thrice, Manchester Orchestra, mewithoutYou, Saves the Day and more. Their website also states, “[Say Anything has] established themselves as one of the few bands nowadays who end up as sweaty, busted up and bruised after a show as the people who are actually watching them.”
Say Anything is kicking off their tour with The Front Bottoms, The So So Glos, and You Blew It on June 13th in Dallas, TX. Luckily for Austin, the tour is stopping in town the next day. Fans will get to experience the high energy of the band, and essentially the kick off of their tour. Everything will be in full swing!
