It’s a new release for Roman Remains, the duet made up of two members of The Duke Spirit, Liela Moss and Toby Butler. The haunting video fits well with the eerie tones of the song, and beyond that, is a work of multimedia art.
The video shows a dual image of Liela Moss, set against a black backdrop. Created by director Steven Sebring, who directed an award-winning film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, “Gazebo” is a video that slowly evolves, complementing the feel of the song. For the first two minutes or so, Moss’s images turn towards each other and sing at times, and periodically turn away. Near the end, her blurred image begins to transform, with different colors of light making her almost unrecognizable at times. It’s a video that reminds the viewer of metamorphosis and builds with the song into a crescendo, before returning to the original dual images of Moss, side by side.
“Gazebo” is a release off of the group’s new album Zeal , which just came out via H.O.T. Record Ltd. The duet has had busy year. After playing for a month at the Los Angeles Sayers Club, they hit up SXSW with Gary Numan and Big Black Delta, and also took the stage with Blondie in Austin. Moss has also been busy making a name for herself in the fashion world. She reported from the front row at several New York Fashion Week shows and also inspired a Target fashion line by Alexander McQueen.
