Mastodon Announces New Album Once More Round the Sun

Mastodon will be releasing a new album, the group’s first since 2011. They have spent the past year recording it in secret but today leaked a few details to ramp up the excitement. Once More Round the Sun was unveiled as the title in an interview with singer Troy Sanders. Sanders also let slip some details about the content. Mastodon originally recorded 90 minutes of material for the upcoming album but only 60 will be included in the summer release. The remaining 30 are being saved for a possible EP sometime after.

The heavy metal band from Atlanta is known for their sludge sound and lyrics inspired by literary iconography. Active for 14 years, this latest offering will be Mastodon’s sixth studio album. It was recorded near the artist’s home in Franklin, Tennessee. Once More Round the Sun will provide fans with new material and plenty of goodies.

Mastodon released a recording of their performance at Brixton in 2012 but since then it has been all quiet. Until earlier this year, when the group dressed up as alter egos to lip-synch in The Coathangers video for Follow Me.
