Celebrating the release of his 10th solo album, Peter Murphy is going on a North American tour that kicks off May 22 in Las Vegas. He started his music career as the lead vocalist of the rock group Bauhaus and later went on to release a number of solo albums. His solo career has showed a wide range of music types, including pseudo-pop and haunting ballads that showcased his deep and complex vocals, with lyrical themes that are often metaphysical or religious.
Murphy’s early solo career reached a height when he released his album Deep in 1989. He had an aggressive alternative rock sound and a matching style in which he sported platinum blonde hair. The single “Cuts You Up” off of the album held the top spot on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart for longer than any previously released single. The record was unbroken until the release of R.E.M’s “Losing My Religion.”
Most recently, Murphy had a short appearance in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse with “The Cold One.” In March, he announced the release of his latest album LION which features an album trailer which can be seen here. The album is set to be released June 3, 2014. His North American Tour will consist of over 30 live shows.
