American rock band, Jimmy Eat World, has released eight studio albums, the most recent being Damage. Their breakthrough album was released in 2001 titled, Bleed American. After the attack of the Twin Towers, the band decided to re-issue the album as Jimmy Eat World out of concern that the title Bleed American might be misinterpreted, possibly as “Bleed, American.”
The first breakthrough single off of the album was “Salt Sweat Sugar.” The second single, “The Middle,” is the band’s biggest single to date; the music video has reached over 10 million views on YouTube. “The Middle” also reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, leading the album to become certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
In 2007, Jimmy Eat World released their sixth album, Chase This Light, which became the band’s highest charting album, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Their latest album, Damage, was released in 2013. Lead vocalist Jim Adkins explained in a Rolling Stone magazine interview that Damage is ‘pretty energetic’ work that explores the issue of relationship break-ups from the perspective of an adult. “I’m 37 and the world around me is a lot different than when I was writing break-up songs in my 20s. I tried to reflect that in what the lyrics are.” Their latest single off of the new album is “I Will Take You Back.”
