Indie pop supergroup Sweet Apple are back with their second full-length, The Golden Age of Glitter, out April 8th, and they’re setting the mood for it with a new video featuring Mark Lanegan.
Made up of J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), John Petkovic (Cobra Verde, Guided By Voices), Tim Parnin (Cobra Verde) and Dave Sweetapple (Witch), the group Sweet Apple got its start in 2009, and released their first album, Love & Desperation, in 2010. The foursome have played in a number of bands together, and their cohesion shines through with their solid power pop tunes.
Mark Lanegan, who recently released his 20-year spanning anthology album Has God Seen My Shadow?, then announced he’s working on new material with the Mark Lanegan Band, also contributes to two of Sweet Apple’s newest songs from the new LP, including the following video, “Wish You Could Stay a Little Longer.”
Six music videos will accompany the pending release of The Golden Age of Glitter, all in one way or another connecting various storylines from the band. Thus “Wish You Could Stay a Little Longer,” its first, seems appropriate in its use of paper airplanes, being flown from one band member to the next, across the country.
