Lo-Fang @ Milkboy 4/25

If you were one of the lucky ones to be in attendance at Lorde’s sold out show at the Tower Theater on March 8th, you probably saw opener Lo-Fang impress the large crowd with his vocal and instrumental skills. Luckily, we will all have a chance to see him again very soon! Fresh off his tour with music’s biggest name, Lo-Fang is embarking on his own US tour, gracing the stage at Milkboy on April 25th.

Lo-Fang, aka Matthew Hemerlein, is a Maryland born singer-songwriter who is quickly making waves due to the support of the 17 year old superstar, Lorde. She listed Lo-Fang’s single “#88” as one of her 10 favorite songs of 2013, and expressed an interest in seeing him perform live. The two met up and bonded over their mutual affection for one another’s music – and now Lorde gets to see him perform every night of the tour.

Lo-Fang is a multi-talented artist who just so happens to be a classically trained violinist, pianist, cellist, and bassist. And his skills are quite evident in his live performances. His debut album, Blue Film, was released on February 25th via 4AD. He says that he hopes that the music “connects with people and provokes an emotional response.” You’ll definitely want to check out Lo-Fang at an intimate venue like Milkboy before he blows up! (We already caught him performing on an episode of Revenge.)
