Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden are teaming up for a North American tour that kicks off on Saturday, July 19, at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Both bands will play full sets nightly, along with their opening act Death Grips on most dates.
Nine Inch Nails is an industrial rock band that formed in 1988 by Trent Reznor. He is considered the band’s main producer, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. Reznor is the only official member of Nine Inch Nails and remains solely responsible for the bands direction. After recording a new album, Reznor usually assembles a live band to perform with him. The touring band features a revolving lineup, that changes due to a song or setting. On stage, Nine Inch Nails often employs visual elements to accompany performances, which frequently include light shows.
Nine Inch Nails have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, and have released a large series of singles, including the No. 1 hits “The Hand That Feeds,” “Only,” “Every Day Is Exactly the Same” and “Survivalism.” Nine Inch Nails has also received two GRAMMY awards. Their 2013 album Hesitation Marks debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts, and was named one of the best albums of the year by Rolling Stone, SPIN, Alternative Press, ABC News, and The New York Times’ Jon Pareles.
Soundgarden is an American rock band, who is internationally recognized as one of the most influential rock bands. The band achieved its biggest success with their 1994 album Superunknown, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The album also consisted of two of their biggest hits, “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman,” which were both Grammy Award winning singles. Superunknown sold over 9 million copies worldwide, leading to its five times platinum status by the RIAA in the United States. The album is Soundgarden’s most commercially successful album. As of 2012, Soundgarden has sold over 22.5 million copies worldwide.
