The Melvins’ lead vocalist Buzz Osborne will be releasing a new album, This Machine Kills Artists, on June 3 via Ipecac Records. It is Osborne’s debut solo album.
The album features stripped-down, acoustic music, a different sound from the music of The Melvins, who just put out an album last year. However, Osborne says, “I have no interest in sounding like a crappy version of James Taylor or a half-assed version of Woody Guthrie, which is what happens when almost every rock and roller straps on an acoustic guitar. No thanks.”
He is currently wrapping up his first-ever solo tour, including a stop at SXSW 2014, but will begin an extensive tour of North America in June. To get peek at what the new album will be like, listen to the lead track, “Dark Brown Teeth.”
