Another day, another burst of activity from Morrissey. The British music legend is setting up for a June 2 release of his seminal 1994 album Vauxhall and I.
Vauxhall and I was huge. Even now it consistently ranks among the best albums ever released. The lead single, “The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get” broke down doors overseas, becoming Morrissey’s first major American hit. A major departure from Morrissey’s normal style, the album was brooding and deeply emotionally charged. No wonder, as it came from a dark time in Morrissey’s life, following hard on the heels of the deaths of three close friends.
But it’s back, just in time for its 20th birthday. It’s only the latest remaster from Morrissey, who also recently released a redone version of 1992’s Your Arsenal. He hasn’t neglected to produce new material as well – World Peace is None of Your Business” is slated for Summer release, with tour dates to match.
