LISTEN: Sharon Van Etten Releases New Song “Taking Chances”

New York based folk singer/songwriter Sharon Von Etten has just dropped the first single from her upcoming album, Are We There, set for release in May 2014 on Jagjaguwar.

Brooklyn-based Van Etten dropped “Taking Chances” this morning on her website, giving fans a taste of the work to come. The brooding track wallows in reverb and culminates in a distorted chorus, bolstering Van Etten’s dreamy and somewhat ominous vocals. She herself put it perfectly when she said, “I really hope that when someone puts my record on that they hear me.” New listeners can also get a preview of the album in Van Etten’s beautiful black and white promo for “Are We There”.

To top it off, Van Etten has announced an extensive tour of both the U.S., finishing off in Chicago at the Pitchfork Festival.
