Lady Gaga Confirmed for SXSW 2014 Performing at Stubb’s BBQ For Doritos #BOLDSTAGE

Just when you thought it might not happen, there goes the neighborhood. The one, the only, Lady Gaga has been confirmed as performing at the annual SXSW Music Festival. This performance will take place on Thursday night March 13th at the famous Stubb’s BBQ. This news has been confirmed by the business magazine Fast Company’s sister site FastCoCreate, in post by Jeff Beer. (via Tweet from good friend Cameron at SXSW.) Last week, we brought you the news that the city of Austin had previously denied request for a permit to have Lady Gaga perform at the gigantic fake Doritos machine (known as the #BoldStage) that is set up just north of the convention center each year. It seems the logistical creases have been ironed out, and instead of by the monolithic vending machine, the event has been cleared to happen at Stubb’s BBQ.

FastCoCreate has posted a series of product images, presumably prepped for a massive launch and announcement of the performance, set to prime SXSW for other performances set for later in week at the #BoldStage. Additionally, the performance is labeled as “The Born This Way Foundation Night,” which coincides with her sold-out series of Roseland Ballroom performances benefitting her Born This Way Foundation charity. The images indicate that the snack chip company will allow fans the chance to win access to the event through a variety of methods. First, the company will release several “bold missions” as they call them on social media or Doritos.com. Then, the fan will choose a “mission” and find out the necessary status, location, hashtags and details. Lastly, the fan will need to post visual proof of them completing the challenge with both the specific hashtag for the mission and the hashtag #boldstage. Sounds complicated!

One of the images indicates some of the “missions” that fans will be able to partake in, including #BoldBravey, #BoldHaircut, #BoldSuitcase, #BoldPerformer and #BoldUpdate. There’s only around 2,000 tickets that will be given out. You’ll find mxdwn busking down on Red River with a kazoo and washboard doing a 10-hour rendition of “The Song That Never Ends.” Additional details on whether other SXSW badge or wristband holders can attend have not been revealed as of press time. We’ll update you here once we know more.
