Established rock band SWEET APPLE have caused great excitement with the announcement of their sophomore album, “The Golden Age of Glitter” release this April 8th, 2014 on Tee Pee Records.
SWEET APPLE was destined for greatness when Dinosaur Jr.’s singer/guitarist J. Mascis founded the band back in 2009. “The Golden Age of Glitter” is a 10 song “power-pop masterpiece”, recorded all over the country, and is a follow up to their acclaimed debut album, Love & Desperation. Vocalist John Petkovic described the work as “an album about connecting missing flights, arrivals, and departures”, the explanation behind their recording in so many different locations. SWEET APPLE’s infectious album will also showcase some exciting guests; Mark Lanegan of Queens of the Stone Age and Screaming Trees is featured on the first track, “Wish You Could Stay (A Little Longer),” and appears on “Let’s Take the Same Train” with vocalist/bassist Rachel Haden from The Dog. Robert Pollard of Guided by Voices closes the album, featured on the last track “Under the Liquor Sign”.

Though founded by the masterly rocker J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., the band draws its name from Canadian bassist Dave Sweetapple, who plays for Dusty Skull and Witch- which Mascis also plays guitar for. Coincidentally, the two other members, John Petkovic and Tim Parnin, met Mascis through their work together in band Cobra Verde. SWEET APPLE, needless to say, is not short on talent and experience in the rock tradition. Fans should keep their eyes and ears peeled for the 6 videos that are planned to accompany SWEET APPLE’s The Golden Age of Glitter this coming spring.
