Prong Announce New Album Ruining Lives for April 2014 Release

Veteran hardcore group Prong has announced its latest project; the industrial metal band’s ninth studio album, Ruining Lives is now slated for an April 2014 release in Europe and a May 2014 release in the U.S. and Canada. The release of Ruining Lives marks the group’s latest effort in a 28-year career (not including the five years they disbanded in the late ’90s and early 00’s).

Lead singer and guitarist Tommy Victor calls the album the fastest written and recorded Prong album in the history of the band, and according to Victor, it has the most dynamic collection of tracks. Calling the album “innovative” and “current,” Victor says the band is doing something it hasn’t attempted before, with time signatures and riffs that add to a different kind of sound for Prong. He calls it a combo of hardcore thrash, post-punk and industrial metal, but adds that the album includes modern elements which set it apart in a new way.

Prong has seen evolving success in its long career that may now outlast the ages of many of its listeners. It’s also been listed as a main influence for acts like Korn and Nine Inch Nails. The latest album and upcoming tour proves that the grunge, thrash-metal style of the ’90s is alive and well and has a vibrant fan base well into the 21st century. Ruining Lives will be released on vinyl and in a “digipak” version that will both include bonus track “Retreat.” The Jewel Case version of the album will include the regular 11 tracks.
