Yann Tiersen Announces New Album Infinity For May 2014 Release

French instrumentalist and vocalist Yann Tiersen has announced a brand new album, scheduled to come out this spring, along with a set of tour dates in a few select cities. Infinity will be Tiersen’s eighth studio album and will follow 2011’s Skyline, which garnered mostly positive reviews for the musician.

Probably best known as the soundtrack artist for the hit French film Amelie, Tiersen has been branching out in recent years, including more English vocals and tracks than in his earlier work. With Infinity, an album that was produced in Iceland, Tiersen worked with native language speakers to include tracks in the Celtic language Breton, the Nordic language Faroese and Icelandic. The short album trailer features a purple-hued image of a stormy sea scene, accompanied by a lighthearted fanfare of upbeat string music.

Tiersen has only announced four shows so far to go along with the upcoming album, and one of them sold out within hours. Infinity is slated for a May 20th release.
