That was…interesting. The Melvins have just released a new music video for their cover of “Warhead”, a song originally by black metal cornerstone group Venom.
One of the largest influences on the grunge movement, the Melvins hail from Montesano, Washington, and have done so for over twenty years. For all that, they’re still going strong. The band consistently releases an average of an album a year, the most recent being Tres Cabrones last November. Founding member and mobile hair explosion Buzz Osbourne is also slated for a featured speaker spot at this year’s SXSW.
And now for the music video. Debut site Metal Sucks described it as a Dali-directed version of Dr. Strangelove, and we have to say, that’s about as fitting a description as we could ask for. The Melvins version of “Warhead” is one strange, strange trip to take, but a fun one. And even if you’re not in the mood for acid flashbacks, the music is pretty darn good on its own. Scott Kelly of iconic metal band Neurosis also has a guest spot, pretty hard to say anything against that.
