Archie Powell & The Exports Announce New Album Back in Black for April 2014 Release

New album, new tours…get ready for more from Archie Powell and the Exports. Their upcoming album Back in Black drops just around the corner in April, details below.

Pause. Appreciate that picture.

Alright, appreciation over. Midwestern pop-rockers Archie Powell and the Exports made their name with an upbeat brand of stomping, frenetic music, as in their 2012 release Great Ideas in Action. You can expect some of the same dazzle to show up on Back in Black, but with a couple of twists.

While recording the new album, the band set out to create a more emotionally raw album – in the words of Powell himself:
“I was really looking to be nakedly honest despite any discomfort or personal embarrassment it would invariably cause.” Reproducing the energy of their live shows was also a huge priority and, in a departure from previous work, the band enters an extended flirtation with dissonance on many of their songs, giving them a rougher edge. All of the above are extremely evident on their two leaked songs, “Everything’s F**ked” and “Scary Dream”. Give ’em a listen below, and check out the band’s upcoming tour dates.
