To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of their album, Emblems, Matt Pond PA brings the “Emblems 10th Anniversary Tour” to Philadelphia with a stop at Underground Arts on May 2nd. It’s only natural that Pond would bring the tour to Philly as the album was composed as he was drifting between here and New York. He says, “Since I haven’t stopped drifting, it feels as relevant as it did ten years ago.”
Matt Pond PA, the group, was formed right here in Philadelphia by singer-songwriter Matt Pond. Together they have released eight EPs and eight LPs since 1998. Emblems, the band’s 5th studio album was released in 2004. The “Emblems 10th Anniversary Tour” will mark the first time Matt Pond PA has played the entirety of the album for an audience. The tour is sure to be a very unique experience, so be sure to get your tickets. In addition to the upcoming tour, Matt Pond has launched a Pledge Music campaign for the upcoming release of his album, The State of Gold. Fans will be offered “a glimpse into the recording process, early mixes, and various exclusives such as the Guild Guitar used throughout the recording process.”
Providing support for Matt Pond PA on their upcoming tour is The Lighthouse and the Whaler, a self-described “indie-folk-pop” band from Cleveland, Ohio. Although they describe their music as “indie-folk-pop,” they also don’t “believe that genres labels tell you anything you need to know about a band.” Their new album, This is an Adventure, is currently available – so be sure to check that out!
