The Hollywood Bowl is legendary, just like some of the acts who will be killing it on stage there this year. The Pixies, who just released EP-2, will be playing alongside Gogol Bordello, Cat Power and many more.
In the Hollywood mountains, lies a meadowed bowl with an almost historic outdoor amphitheater. The 1920’s era amphitheater was ripped down and replaced in 2004, but surely there are still some ghosts of music-past in the arena. Hundreds of artists have graced the bowl including Cher, The Beatles and John Williams. Now the Pixies will be making history by debuting at this arena, playing new music and hopefully bringing out some old classics from before their 1993 disbandment and their 2004 reunion.
But if the history won’t bring you to 2014’s Hollywood bowl, maybe Cat Power and Gogol Bordello can convince you. Cat Power was on our chart of Top 40 Songs for 2012 and most recently played in the Station to Station tour with Beck, No Age and more. Cat power is good, really good. As for Gogol Bordello, the band is awesomely weird with an old-timey intensity. They would no doubt be crazy fun to see live. They recently released a video for “Lost Innocent World” and it’s a good teaser for what to expect from these guys at the bowl. Be sure to check out all these acts and buy your tickets here!
