Electronic synth beat artist Tobacco has just announced his third solo album with a May 13 release date. Ultima II Massage will make its appearance on Ghostly with new tour dates to go along with it.
The solo side project of Black Moth Super Rainbow’s Thomas Fec, Tobacco is known for his hip-hop influenced beats and heavy synth mixes that diverge from Black Moth Super Rainbow’s dreamier sound. Making his debut with 2008’s Fucked Up Friends, Tobacco followed its success with 2010’s Maniac Meat, and collaborated with Beck on a few of the tracks.
Tobacco is famous for making interviews a rarity, but commented on his newest project, saying he thinks he’s finally achieved what he was working towards in the past two albums. “I wanted to push each song just enough, so that even when the album’s at its wildest, it’s something you can zone out to,” Tobacco said. “It feels like a definitive end to a concept I’ve been trying to perfect forever.”
