Alternative rock band, Band of Skulls, formed in Southampton, England. In the beginning, the group played at night clubs in the greater London area and recorded demos under the name, Fleeing New York. Demos were recorded in a shed-studio. In 2008, the band changed its name to Band of Skulls.
Their debut album, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey, was released exclusively on iTunes in 2009. The track “I Know What I Am” was chosen as iTunes’ free Single of the Week to coincide with the digital release. Band of Skulls has previously played SXSW and Austin City Limits, and has been opening support for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Dead Weather, etc. By 2010, the band was playing international venues, including a sold out show at London’s Electric Ballroom.
Band of Skulls’ performance was reviewed by Washington Times Community, “Band of Skulls proves that big things come in small packages. The band is made up of three people, and the music that comes out of the speakers sounds like it has to be five.” In addition to their review, Tampa Bay Times recommends, “Next time you see ‘em at a festival, you might want to stop and see what you’re missing.” Don’t let schedule conflicts stop you from attending the show.
