Red Bull Sound Select Presents DIIV @ Boot & Saddle 2/23

For just $3 you could see DIIV this Sunday at Boot & Saddle! The dreampop band is hitting the stage as part of Red Bull Sound Select’s monthly showcases. The event is the first of 3 upcoming showcases curated by Making Time. If you’ve been to any of the Making Time events in the past, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for their other Red Bull Sound Select curated shows – as they’re sure to be “rad” (as founder Dave Pianka would say).

To get a spot on the list, head to the event page here and RSVP. RSVP does not guarantee entrance to the venue, so you’ll want to arrive early to secure your spot. But the RSVP does ensure that you’ll get in for the discounted price of $3. And that is definitely a bargain you do not want to pass up!

Headliners, DIIV, hail from Brooklyn, NY. They released their debut album in 2012. The band began as a solo project for Zachary Cole Smith, who also plays guitar for Beach Fossils. He originally named the band, Dive, after a Nirvana song. Smith himself has often been compared to Kurt Cobain. Their as yet untitled upcoming album is expected to be released sometime in March.

Aside from bringing in huge national acts, the Red Bull Sound Select showcases are a chance to highlight some of the best local talent Philly has to offer. That being said, also appearing at Boot & Saddle on 2/23 will be local bands Drone Ranger and Lantern. South Philly’s Drone Ranger released their self-titled EP in 2013. They will release full length EP at the beginning of the summer. Until then, you can check out two tracks from the upcoming album here. Fellow Philadelphians, Lantern, are currently working on their next album. Be sure to check out both of these acts this weekend!
