Indie pop singer/songwriter, Ingrid Michaelson, is taking the stage at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q on May 14. Ingrid Michaelson started recording her own music in 2012, and self promoted through popular social sites like MySpace. She also promoted her music by playing small venues and coffee shops around New York City. Eventually, Michaelson combined her previously recorded music and produced a record under her own label, Cabin 24 Records. The album was titled Slow the Rain, and was sold at her shows, and was even up on Amazon for a short period of time.
Ingrid Michaelson went on to release her second album, Girls and Boys. ABC music producers discovered the album, and used songs from her album on its television show “Grey’s Anatomy.” Over 15 of her songs have been played on multiple episodes of the TV show throughout her career. The album peaked #63 on Billboard’s charts. Her third album, Be Ok, debuted on Billboard charts at #35. She reached top 20 with her album, Everybody, reaching #18 on Billboard charts. She then released her next two albums, Human Again and Lights Out, with Mom + Pop Music. Human Again reached #5 on Billboard charts and sold out almost every show on her Human Again Tour which went across the nation, and even overseas, playing three shows in Australia.
Michaelson collaborated with Sara Bareilles on “Winter Song,” which was later performed in front of the Obama family at the National Christmas Tree Lighting in December 2010. BuffaBlog, a site for music lovers, reviewed one of Michaelson’s performances as, “dynamic and impressive” with “nimble vocals kept the crowd in going the entire show. Switching back and forth from the guitar to piano to the ukulele, her talent as a musician had the crowd in silence during “Ghost” (dudes were crying).”
