Boyz II Men @ Tower Theater 6/7

Motownphilly’s back again! Philadelphia legends, Boyz II Men, return to the stage on June 7th when they’ll perform at the Tower Theater.

Currently the guys are taking part in a Las Vegas residency at The Mirage Hotel and Casino. Their 10th, and most recent studio album, Twenty, was released in 2011. The title pays homage to the group’s 20 years in the business. The two disc album features thirteen new songs and nine rerecorded tracks, including hits like “I’ll Make Love to You” and “End of the Road.” When they initially announced the project, they stated that original member Michael McCary would be reuniting with the group. Unfortunately, soon after the announcement was made McCary stated that he had decided not to participate in the project after all. Michael McCary had retired from performing with Boyz II Men in 2003 as a a result of his ongoing struggles with scoliosis. That same year, Arista Records terminated their short-lived contract with the group, which resulted in their taking a break from the music industry.

A year later, in 2004, Boyz II Men created the independent label MSM Music Group. They have since released 4 albums via the label (including 2011’s Twenty). The trio have had a busy 10 years since reforming. Some of their various ventures have included a “Love Cruise” and a tour with New Kids on the Block. Shawn Stockman has also been serving as a judge on The Sing-Off since 2009. On January 5, 2012, Boyz II Men were awarded a much deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

It’s no secret that the Boyz are adored by this city, having formed while they were students at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Get your tickets now and welcome them back to the stage on June 7th for “a little east coast fling.”
