Failure has successfully performed for the first time in 16 years. The American alt-rockers looked sharp as ever at their Valentine’s day gig at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles.
Failure – appropriately enough – never did quite manage to make it big. But they sure did make some great music while they were at it. The biggest blip they ever made on the radar was 1996’s Fantastic Planet, which had a few songs that saw minor radio and television rotation. On the other hand, they’ve long commanded respect from critics and fellow musicians – including bands like Tool and Depeche Mode, both of whom worked with Failure in the past.
The band went their separate ways in 1997, citing personal differences. One notable alum was Troy Van Leeuwen (though he only joined in the band’s final days) who went on to play with Queens of the Stone Age. However, small collaborations surfaced, and in 2013, the band announced their reunion.
The most recent show was well, fantastic. We’ll let MxDwn’s own concert report take over from there. Check below for videos.
